Kochkor is a small town in the Naryn Oblast of Kyrgyzstan, situated along the Chui River at an elevation of approximately 1,800 meters. With around 10,000 inhabitants, it is an important center for trade and culture in the region. Kochkor is renowned for its traditional handicrafts, especially felt products and felt rugs. One of the best shops for felt products in the country is located here. The cooperative "Altyn Köl" sells products from over 50 small, mostly women-run craft businesses in the region. The town also serves as a starting point for excursions to the picturesque Song-Köl Lake. Every Saturday, a livestock market takes place here, which is a must-visit for anyone in town on that day.
