Rising to an elevation of 5,168 meters, Peak Oguz Bashi is one of the highest summits of the Terskey Alatau range and ranks as its third-highest mountain. This impressive glaciated peak towers over the spectacular landscapes of eastern Kyrgyzstan in the Issyk-Kul region and dominates the scenic Jeti-Oguz Valley.

Numerous glacial streams originate on its northern slopes, forming the headwaters of the Jeti-Oguz River. The mountain was originally known as Oguz Bashi, which means “Bull's Head” in Kyrgyz. In 2002, it was renamed Yeltsin Peak in honor of Boris Yeltsin, the first President of the Russian Federation. Today, both names are commonly used and reflect the region’s rich and complex history.
